Description
Soft and buttery vanilla bean scones topped with sweet vanilla icing.
Ingredients
1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
2 tablespoons white sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
4 tablespoons cold unsalted butter
1 large egg
1/3 cup heavy cream
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon vanilla bean paste
1 cup powdered sugar
2 tablespoons whole milk
1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 375ºF and line baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in food processor.
3. Add butter and pulse until sandy.
4. Whisk egg, cream, vanilla extract, and vanilla bean paste together.
5. Add wet ingredients to flour mixture and pulse into dough.
6. Shape dough into disc and cut into eight triangles.
7. Bake for 10-12 minutes until lightly golden.
8. Mix icing ingredients until smooth.
9. Drizzle icing over cooled scones.
Notes
Use cold butter for flaky layers.
Do not overmix the dough.
Allow scones to cool before icing.
