Classic strawberry shortcake recipe from scratch with flaky biscuits, fresh strawberries, and whipped cream.
Ingredients
3 cups all purpose flour
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon kosher salt
2 tablespoons baking powder
3/4 cup cold butter
1 large egg
3/4 cup cold buttermilk
Fresh strawberries
2 cups heavy cream
1/3 cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
Instructions
1. Prepare strawberry topping and set aside
2. Mix dry ingredients in a bowl
3. Cut cold butter into flour mixture
4. Whisk buttermilk and egg, combine with dough
5. Knead lightly and shape dough
6. Cut into biscuits and place in pan
7. Bake at 425°F for 18-22 minutes
8. Whip cream with sugar and vanilla
9. Assemble with strawberries and whipped cream

Do not overmix dough
