This southern peach cobbler is a classic homemade dessert made with juicy peaches and a buttery golden topping. Perfect for family dinners or holidays.
Ingredients
2 bags frozen peaches (20 oz each)
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
1/2 tablespoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
2 teaspoons cornstarch
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/2 stick butter
2 tablespoons water
1 teaspoon lemon juice
2 cups flour
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 tablespoon cinnamon
1 stick butter
1/4 cup hot water
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons sugar for topping
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 375°F
2. Mix peaches with sugars, spices, butter, and other ingredients in baking dish
3. Cover and bake for 20 minutes
4. Prepare topping by mixing flour, sugars, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon
5. Cut in cold butter until crumbly
6. Add hot water and mix until dough forms
7. Spoon topping over peaches
8. Sprinkle cinnamon sugar on top
9. Bake uncovered for 30–45 minutes until golden brown
Notes
Use fresh peaches when in season for better flavor
Do not overmix the topping to keep it tender
Serve warm with vanilla ice cream for best results
