Description

Rich, chewy, and topped with gooey caramel and flaky sea salt—these Salted Caramel Brownies strike the perfect balance of sweet and salty in every bite.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup soft caramels, unwrapped
  • 3 tbsp heavy cream
  • Flaky sea salt, for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a square baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a saucepan, melt the butter, then stir in granulated and brown sugar until smooth. Let cool slightly.
  3. Whisk in eggs and vanilla to the butter-sugar mixture.
  4. Sift together flour, cocoa powder, and salt in a separate bowl. Gradually add to wet mixture and stir until combined.
  5. Fold in chocolate chips.
  6. Spread half the batter into the pan.
  7. Melt caramels with heavy cream in the microwave or a saucepan until smooth, then pour over the batter.
  8. Top with remaining brownie batter and smooth the surface.
  9. Sprinkle with flaky sea salt.
  10. Bake for 30–35 minutes. Let cool for one hour before slicing.

Notes

Store at room temperature for up to 3 days, refrigerate up to 7 days, or freeze for up to 2 months. Reheat slightly before serving for ultimate gooeyness.
