- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup soft caramels, unwrapped
- 3 tbsp heavy cream
- Flaky sea salt, for topping
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a square baking pan with parchment paper.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter, then stir in granulated and brown sugar until smooth. Let cool slightly.
- Whisk in eggs and vanilla to the butter-sugar mixture.
- Sift together flour, cocoa powder, and salt in a separate bowl. Gradually add to wet mixture and stir until combined.
- Fold in chocolate chips.
- Spread half the batter into the pan.
- Melt caramels with heavy cream in the microwave or a saucepan until smooth, then pour over the batter.
- Top with remaining brownie batter and smooth the surface.
- Sprinkle with flaky sea salt.
- Bake for 30–35 minutes. Let cool for one hour before slicing.
Notes
Store at room temperature for up to 3 days, refrigerate up to 7 days, or freeze for up to 2 months. Reheat slightly before serving for ultimate gooeyness.
