Description
Old-Fashioned Homemade Banana Pudding made with rich custard, fresh bananas, and vanilla wafers.
Ingredients
¾ cup sugar
¼ cup flour
¼ teaspoon salt
3 cups milk
3 eggs
2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 box vanilla wafers (about 8 oz)
4 bananas, sliced
Instructions
1. Mix sugar, flour, and salt in a saucepan
2. Whisk in milk and cook over medium heat until thick and bubbly
3. Reduce heat and cook for 2 more minutes
4. Remove from heat and temper the eggs
5. Return egg mixture and cook until gentle boil
6. Add vanilla and cool 15 minutes
7. Layer wafers, bananas, and pudding
8. Repeat layers and chill 4 hours
9. Top with crushed wafers and serve
Notes
Use ripe bananas
Chill overnight for best flavor
Stir constantly to avoid lumps
