Description
A hearty and comforting hobo ground beef recipe layered with tender potatoes, seasoned beef, creamy mushroom sauce, and melted cheddar cheese.
Ingredients
1 pound ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
4 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
1 can (10.5 ounces) cream of mushroom soup
½ cup milk
1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
½ teaspoon paprika (optional)
1 tablespoon butter, melted
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 375°F and grease a 9×13 baking dish.
2. Slice potatoes thinly and prepare ingredients.
3. Cook ground beef and onion in skillet until browned.
4. Season beef mixture with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
5. Layer potatoes and beef mixture in baking dish.
6. Mix cream of mushroom soup and milk, then pour over layers.
7. Top with shredded cheddar cheese and drizzle with melted butter.
8. Cover with foil and bake 45 minutes.
9. Remove foil and bake another 15 minutes until cheese is bubbly.
10. Rest for 5–10 minutes before serving.
Notes
Slice potatoes thin for even cooking.
You can substitute cream of chicken soup for a different flavor.
Add vegetables like carrots or corn for extra nutrition.
