Description
Festive Halloween Spritz Cookies made with buttery dough in orange and black colors, pressed into spooky shapes and decorated with candy and sprinkles.
Ingredients
1 cup (227g) unsalted butter softened
⅔ cup (133g) granulated sugar
1 large egg
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
½ teaspoon salt
¼ cup (31g) all-purpose flour
Red gel food coloring
Yellow gel food coloring
¼ cup (20g) black cocoa powder
Sanding sugar (orange, black, yellow, white)
Halloween M&M’s
Cookie icing
Candy eyeballs
Halloween sprinkle blends
Candy corn and/or Mellowcreme pumpkins
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 400°F. Cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
2. Add egg and vanilla; beat to combine.
3. Add 2 cups flour and salt; mix until combined.
4. Divide dough in half. Color one half orange, the other with black cocoa powder.
5. Load each dough into cookie press separately; press shapes onto ungreased cookie sheets.
6. Decorate unbaked cookies with M&M’s, eyeballs, or sprinkles.
7. Bake 7–9 minutes or until edges are slightly golden.
8. Cool on sheet for 5–10 mins, then transfer to wire rack.
9. Decorate cooled cookies with icing, candy, or more sprinkles.
10. Let decorations harden before stacking or serving.
Notes
If dough is sticky, add a small amount of flour.
For best results, use gel food coloring.
Store in airtight container for up to a week or freeze undecorated cookies.
