Description

Ground Beef Philly Cheesesteaks are a quick and delicious cheesesteak recipe made with seasoned ground beef, sautéed peppers, onions, and melted provolone served in hoagie rolls.


Ingredients

1 pound ground beef

1 medium onion thinly sliced

1 medium green bell pepper thinly sliced

1 cup mushrooms sliced optional

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Salt to taste

Black pepper to taste

4 slices provolone cheese

4 hoagie rolls

Olive oil for cooking


Instructions

1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium high heat.

2. Add sliced onions and bell peppers and sauté for 3 to 5 minutes until tender.

3. Add mushrooms if using and cook another 3 minutes.

4. Push vegetables aside and add ground beef to the skillet.

5. Break apart and cook for about 5 to 7 minutes until browned.

6. Add garlic powder Worcestershire sauce salt and pepper and mix well.

7. Reduce heat and place provolone slices over the beef mixture.

8. Cover skillet and allow cheese to melt for 2 to 3 minutes.

9. Slice hoagie rolls and spoon beef mixture into each roll.

10. Serve hot and optionally toast rolls before serving.

Notes

Use 80/20 ground beef for best flavor.

Toast hoagie rolls for extra texture.

You can substitute provolone with mozzarella or American cheese.
