Description
A rich and moist German Chocolate Cake layered with coconut pecan frosting and chocolate buttercream.
Ingredients
2 cups sugar
1 3/4 cups flour
3/4 cup cocoa powder
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
2 eggs
1 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup oil
2 tsp vanilla
1 cup boiling water
1/2 cup butter
3/4 cup evaporated milk
1 cup coconut
1 cup pecans
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 375°F and prepare pans
2. Mix dry ingredients in bowl
3. Combine wet ingredients separately
4. Mix wet and dry ingredients together
5. Add boiling water and stir
6. Pour into pans and bake 25–35 minutes
7. Prepare coconut frosting on stove
8. Cool cake layers completely
9. Assemble cake with frosting layers
Notes
Use fresh coconut for best flavor
Do not overmix batter
