Description
This French brioche bread recipe from scratch creates a soft, buttery, and fluffy loaf perfect for breakfast or dessert.
Ingredients
1 tablespoon fresh yeast or 2 teaspoon active dry yeast
¼ cup lukewarm milk
2 tablespoon sugar
3 eggs
2.5 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
½ cup unsalted butter, chilled
1 egg (for egg wash)
Instructions
1. Mix yeast, milk, and sugar. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
2. Add eggs and mix well.
3. Combine with flour and salt, knead for 5 minutes.
4. Add butter gradually and knead for 15 minutes.
5. Let dough rise 1 hour, then refrigerate 4–16 hours.
6. Divide dough into 5 pieces and shape into logs.
7. Place in loaf pan and proof for 1.5–2 hours.
8. Brush with egg wash and bake at 395°F for 30–35 minutes.
9. Cool before slicing.
