Description

Creamy queso steak and rice is a Tex-Mex comfort dinner featuring juicy sirloin steak, tomato basmati rice, and smooth white queso.


Ingredients

2 cups basmati rice

2 ½ cups chicken broth

1 chicken bouillon cube

1 can crushed tomatoes

2 cloves garlic minced

1 small onion chopped

1 teaspoon paprika

½ teaspoon cumin

salt and pepper to taste

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 pound sirloin steak thin strips

2 tablespoons butter

Montreal steak seasoning

white queso

fresh cilantro

flour tortillas optional


Instructions

1. Rinse basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear.

2. Heat olive oil in a skillet and sauté garlic and onion.

3. Add rice and toast for two minutes.

4. Pour crushed tomatoes and chicken broth then add seasonings.

5. Bring to boil then simmer covered for 18–20 minutes.

6. Season steak strips with Montreal seasoning.

7. Cook steak in butter and oil over medium-high heat.

8. Fluff rice and top with cooked steak.

9. Drizzle warm white queso over the dish.

10. Garnish with cilantro and serve.

Notes

Slice steak thin against the grain for tenderness.

Warm queso before serving.

Serve with tortillas for a Tex-Mex style meal.
