Ingredients
8 apples, washed and chilled
6 caramel apple sticks
22 ounces soft caramels (such as Kraft), unwrapped
2 tablespoons heavy cream
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon coarse kosher salt
unsalted butter, for setting and storage
Instructions
1. Wash and dry apples thoroughly. Remove stem and insert sticks. Chill for 2–3 hours.
2. Prepare a parchment-lined sheet greased with butter.
3. In a saucepan, melt caramels with cream and vanilla over medium-low heat, stirring constantly.
4. Add salt and remove from heat.
5. Dip apples ¾ of the way into the caramel, rotate and tap to release excess.
6. Add toppings if desired, then place on prepared sheet.
7. Let set for 45–60 minutes before serving.
Notes
Chill apples for a smooth caramel coat.
Use a silicone baking mat for easy release.
Try dark chocolate drizzle or chopped nuts for gourmet versions.
